A rainy day in New York, London, or Bangalore is essentially the same as any other day during the monsoon season. One can still admire the falling raindrops, the different sounds they make as they hit the city’s surfaces, the rejuvination of greenery, and the shine on the urban sprall.
While this may occur over many days in these cities, a rainy day in Doha, Qatar, at the tip of the Middle East, is a day when everyone takes a moment to admire a natural wonder. To put things in perspective, I’ve seen no more than two or three days of rain in a year for the last five years, to get one day like this in a sweltering July is a gift. The cause could be a climate anomaly or change, but the desert city looked completely different for a few hours this summer. Here are some photos and hyperlapse videos I managed to capture from my office building.
